- About Me:
Grateful to Albert for creating this site! Love and Healing to Natalia Rae! I live/work/play on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, a 'just being found' peninsula that is vaires from 8-20 miles wide and 75 miles long (surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Chesapeake Bay on the other). I am part of the 'Esalen Family' having lived and worked there off and on through the years. I'm in private practice doing both face-to-face and Cyber 'Process/Gestalt' work (see website: www.spiritualgestalt.com) as well as working 1/3 time doing intensive in-home family counseling with at-risk kids and their families. I'm a grateful grandmother and mother. My path grew out of a series of very intense spontaneous kundalini experiences almost 30 years ago. i went blessedly insane, having my mind/ego blown to smitherens so that i could begin this journey toward an increasingly authentic self. I am devoted to 'that which I call God' and walk with sincere intention of surrending to and accepting the 'truth of what is' each moment......good, bad, indifferent. It's all the same.
A recent poem reflects what matters to me in my life:GODONCE you were a belief.a person……a man.I no longer believe in You.There is no “I wonder” that remains. My questioning mind, long since brought to its knees by the awesome presence of You,has, blessedly, surrendered.NOW You are a knowing.an Absolute……that ‘Source with No Name’ I call 'God'.a non-person whom I choose to vaguely personalize to make communication about and with "You” easier.Knowing ‘You’ has shifted my life from looking outward toward what I THINK I want, to an ever-increasing inward life. From wanting ‘this and that’ to wanting only Thy Will to be done. There is no greater purpose in life than this for me.No other lasting solace……no other lasting inner contentment. This place of solace, of knowing and not knowing at the same time……this place of BEING, where ALL is the same and judgment is naught…..this place of Fullness, which, paradoxically, is also Empty…..I believe this place is available to us all. God is available to us all.We already ARE this, we only need surrender the ‘thinking mind’, the ego, to know this.People speak of enlightenment as if it were a goal…..something to strive for.If I do ‘this’ or I do ‘that’ I will become “enlightened”, I will ‘know God.”Yet it is this very striving, this very DOING, that holds us in ego, in mind.God is HERE.NOW.Enlightenment already IS.There is nowhere to go.Nothing to DO.God is BEING.‘God’ is what remains when all else falls away.dnta 4/16/06

What I care about
- Interests
- 'God' (using Abraham Maslow's 'definition' of God: "not as a person, but as a force, a principle, a gestalt-quality of the whole of Being, an integrating power that expresses the unity and therefore the meaningfulness of the cosmos, the dimension of depth.") Living an authentic life. Being a mom and grandmother. Doing Service. BEING. Solitude. DOING that grows OUT of BEING. Music: Listening and songwriting. Boating. Photography. Computering. Yoga. Movies and some TV and always MORE
- Books
- 'The Hidden Treasures of the Ancient Qabalah' by Elias Gewurz (been a favorite for 26 years!) 'The Tao of Leadership' and 'The Tao of Daily Living' by John Heider (love John too!) 'Getting Real' by Susan Campbell (have only skimmed it. could have written it haha. i give it to many clients just starting to transition from a 'society defined/ego life' to a more authentic/spiritual life) 'Kundalini Awakening: A Gentle Guide to Chakra Activation & Spiritual Growth' by John Selby (another 'beginning a spiritual path' client book. i do disagree with his obvious bias against more intense forms of kundalini awakening, when they happen organically and not by pushing for it) 'The Truth Is' and others by HWL Poonja 'The Way of Chuang Tzu' by Thomas Merton 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' by John Irviing (some find it slow and boring. i love owen.) And More....
- Teachers
- Everyone! Dan Fogelberg; Tim McGuirl; Vincent O'Connell, John Heider, HWL Poonja, and many, many more!
- Movies
- The Mission, The Color Purple, Harold and Maude, Ghandi, Ordinary People (great therapist!), Tender Mercies (very heartful), What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Seven Years in Tibet, Kundun, and many, many more (i love movies)
- Music
- Dan Fogelberg (the best never made it to radio); Jimmie Dale Gilmore; Leonard Cohen; Joan Baez; Some Tom Waits; Classical Adagios; Many more. I'll work on later.
- Goals
- My moment to moment goal is simply to surrender to, and accept, the TRUTH of 'what is' each moment. To bow to THAT which is and is not. This appears to lead me where I am 'meant' to go, without long-term goals. Of course this could also be a cop out. haha
