Seymour Carter Interview

loves

[Note: This is actually the second in a series of interviews that I did, but the first one's sound quality was rather poor. Maybe if I get the first one cleaned up, sometime, I'll put it up here.]

This is a very honest and candid interview I did last week with Seymour Carter about his life-long relationship with Esalen. He talks about some of the dramatic history of the early days, and how those early moments have impacted him and helped to shape him as a therapist and a human being now.

I think, true to the spirit of Esalen, it is brutally honest... and during the course of this interview, Seymour and I communicate on many different levels together... from the mundane to the dramatic, from the intimate to the universal...

We cover the early years of Esalen... from the psychological breakthroughs to the emotional breakdowns... and his place in it all through the years.

For those who find this interview interesting, more information about Seymour can be found on his website.  Or on his profile here.

He's a great guy and an old-time friend of mine.

Hugs to you, Seymour.

Love,

Albert

Although Seymour has a busy international teaching schedule, he still has a few spaces open to see clients. He is currently based in the Monterey Bay area, but works with clients from Santa Cruz to Big Sur and occasionally also conducts sessions by phone. Tel. ++1 (831) 869-1034

I am really interested in the other interviews in your series with Seymour. I listened to this one several times in the last year or so since I joined ithou and like it a lot, especially since I now see Seymour so often. Is there a third one also?

In this one, I really like the moment when he turns it around and asks you what is going on with you.

Thanks Albert, Monika

Thanks, Monika...

Not a third one, yet!  You could do one, though :-)

Yes, yes, yes...how about a monthly segmant with the Mr. Butts.   Maybe you could probe him to read some of his poems. It really has been a blessing to get to hear the interviews.  I had put it out there to Ken that I would try to do one with him, though I think I need to try again.  The candid expressions from these leaders in the field is really amazing point of reference for me in my own practice.   I know I'm supposed to be just listening to myself and learning that way, but the titilation from another is always so much fun.

Oh..also has anyone read any of Hakim Bey's work....wow I sure am enjoying it these days...

Thanks for putting this up with the links.

Seymour is one of the Esalen facilitators and teachers I most admire: for intense honesty and insistence on that in others.

For an ability to see the garbage and the games, and to just cut right through it, in a way that works.

Happy trails, Donna

I remember seeing you at Esalen....you did not know me...though I knew you...like a shy schoolgirl....I wanted to approach you....though, instead I admired you from afar

I just happened to miss you one day at the tubs as I was chatting with a lady about tattoos (she noticed mine and thought of you) and she mentioned I needed to hear the story of yours.....well, maybe we will meet on another plane...Life is Full of Endless Possibility after all.....

Your Work is an Inspiration and will continue to Inspire years to come...Thank You

Cheers to Your Life Seymour!!
