“What I do you cannot do; but what you do, I cannot do.
The needs are great, and none of us,
including me, ever do great things.
But we can all do small things, with great compassion;
And, together, we can do something wonderful”.
~  Mother Teresa ~

"The difference between what we do
and what we are capable of doing
would suffice to solve
most of the world's problems."
~  Mahatma Gandhi ~

dear ithou community,

An echoing out to join together
in spirit and in intent --
in prayer
in blessing
in offering
for the people of Haiti .

Let us take a moment within our own paths
to pause, in reflection, in fervent stance
to support the global humanitarian outreach.
Be it in form of prayer, affirmation in hope, and/or a helping hand of offering—
may it resonate & echo forth,
in humble reverence,
for the sanctity of our fellow humanity.

peace,

If you are able and/or feel compelled to help in monetary “offering”, consider charity organizations that have a
proven record of caliber, proficiency, and effectiveness—to be able to make immediate implementation in resources
and aides.  Leading NGO’s have confirmed that a monetary donation (in any amount affordable) is what is most
critically needed at this time.  There are amazing NGO’s out there who are capable of responding with expertise,
skills, and resources in humanitarian aide.  They only need a helping hand—in support.

Facts about Haiti :
·       Haiti is the poorest, most densely populated, least developed country in the western hemisphere
·       80% of its 9 million residents live in poverty (w/55% living in desperate poverty of $1/day)
·       2 million residents live in Port-au-Prince (the epicenter of the 7.0 earthquake)
·       the people of Haiti have undergone decades of political and social unrest
·       impact of catastrophic earthquake: the UN estimates the range 100,000 to 150,000 fatalities in Port-au-Prince alone; with immeasurable thousands in need of urgent medical intervention and food, water, shelter, and sanitation supplies

Here are several organizations I have come across that have impressed me (however, there are more you can find, whatever beckons you).  Below are some of the highest-rated charities (rated A = 4 stars, as independently rated by charitynavigator.org) responding to the Haiti humanitarian crisis:

Doctors Without Borders
-  providing emergency-urgent medical services (mobile surgical-hospital units)

Oxfam America
