...is my favorite Carlin.  I'm a "stuff" guy.  "The one who dies with the most toys wins!"

For some, like me, the poor economy is almost a blessing because we can simplify.  (This is not to say I'm discompassionate to those who are suffering from it!)

It has become a time where we become conscious of what we are spending money on, or not spending on. lol

It has been tough, but it makes me question "Do I really need this?" frequently.

Somebody told me that I have to start prioritizing.  I rejected this advice with its evil implication that I can't have everything I want all the time.  What kind of a world is that!!????  Puhleeeeze!  jejeje

America! So I'm sure you can have everything you want. One way or another lol

What a relief!  Thank you!!  You've rescued my sense of self as defined by my righteous stuff!

I just remembered that that Carlin piece had more to it.  At the end, when they go to the other side of Maui, then they decide to go to the beach, and he panics because he's not sure what stuff he needs at the beach.  And then, he is faced with the decision to go swimming.  What stuff do you bring into the water with you!??

Thanks Jasmine... I spend a great deal of time dealing with stuff... my stuff, my kids stuff, my neighbors stuff, moving stuff, storing stuff, giving away stuff, buying more stuff, stuff to take care of the stuff...  The threat of fire here brought to foreground how much stuff I have and how much life energy can go into stuff.

And then we will all get stuffed

happily stuffed...

And that reminds me of the first time I met "stuff" (tobacco stuff), back when I was in high school, in the hands of the dad (the Dee Brown -- Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee) of one of my best buds. Now that was weird stuff. But those were the days when we were into looking oh so coooool by smoking little European cigarettes held in loooooongggg cigarette holders. It was so easy to be cool in 19**. We spent more time waving the cigarettes through the air gracefully than we did in smoking them. And while we were allowed to smoke at the parties at her house, no one under legal drinking age was allowed a drop of alcohol. But high schoolers just were not into drinking and drugs at that point, anyway. At least not in the small cities of the Midwest Heartland. Days of innocence? Or just more easily entertained?

Happy trails, D.

I say lol.

Now adays, cigs are a must. That's not being cool it's normal. Being cool is getting wasted, throwing up all over the place, then having your parents ground you. lol

Weems. You made me laugh at my computer when I read the stuffing the turkey comment. HAHAH

The roommates I'm living with now have so much stuff in this apartment that it's horribly stuffy. I can't wait until they move out and all their stuff is gone to some other place.  Four college girls, and lots of stuff. Not fun. lol

Being cool is getting wasted, throwing up all over the place, then having your parents ground you.  --Seems to me I've been cool like that.  It's so nice to not be cool anymore.

Now cigarettes....dat's bad stuff.
