kept me in their thoughts.. I found a job!!!! I just got hired as a certified lingerie specialist at Nordstroms (don't laugh) HAHA!
Thank you so much for praying for me and sending out good thoughts.
love all!
Jasmine
Now you can give us tips on picking out good-fitting undies (more of a problem for the over-50 crowd that has problems with body parts that travel south).
Well done Jasmine. I didn't realize that anyone "certified" lingerie specialists. Cool.
Is it close to home, as you wanted?
You can't see it, but I am doing my little dance of celebration while sitting here at the computer.
and to cele brate:
Happy trails, D.
Well done! When do you start? Make sure to give us many updates....:)
Great job, Jasmine. (Wondering if you can do T'ai Chi in lingerie? You...not me!)
It is right across the street from my apartment...So yeah I'd say that's close. lol
The manager called me yesterday and said that she is trying to get me into the orientation this weekend so I can start next week. I guess I get certified in bra fitting, and all sorts of stuff and how to approach women with breast cancer etc..
But I will post updates and tips for picking out good undies...And John, I'll keep you unpdated regarding the lingerie and T'ai Chi combo...lol
Thanks again so much for all your thoughts and wishes. :)
Lots of Love,
Jasmine
Congrats!!!
They know what they are doing at Nordstroms. I once spent hours there trying on bras and none would fit and also look good at the same time. I was ready to leave. Then I ran into the bra-fitting lady. She measured me abd brought in three bras that all fit and looked awesome! I couldn't decide and bought all 3. I still have them and they fit great. Ever since, I have not stepped into Victoria's Secret:-)
Enjoy your new job!
A good bra-fitter is priceless.
I spent $5 on Oprah's silly magazine once because it was supposed to have a great article on finding bras that fit. The article was useless. but the nice elderly woman at the Boston Store helped me just fine.
sigh... but I really prefer the old days when I didn't need a bra and never ever wore them.
what a useful skill you are going to be acquiring, Jasmine.
I would expect that Nordstroms would have good employee benefits, too. Although these days...
Happy trails, D.
Watch out for burly cross-dressers!! (just joking
This is going to be great we will have first hand tips from in house~ I can't wait. My lingerie drawer aka a large ziplock bag is so in need of an advisor. Though my daughter did buy me some nice undies last time she was home. I love eberjey hint hint http://www.eberjey.com/shop/p-U779.html
Love it! It all looks so comfy. :) Thanks for introducing me.
As for the cross-dressers. My very first job was at Macys in the swimsuit department, and boy did I have to deal with a lot of creepers. Some of them were genuine but others just wanted to try on swim suits to take a peek at the ladies. So I have experience dealing with them haha...

Hum. Interesting. Tantra. I'm beginning to understand. Maybe I better sign up for that Murphy/Kripal workshop!
in the returns section.
Seriously I worked Harrods one Christmas and there was/is actually a little know position- it is for the returned clothing including intimates. When it/they came in it was checked against the bill(receipt) and then taken into another room....where we, the lowly staff were. We had to sniff the targeted areas to make sure the item could be either rehung or had to be taken to a seamstress for repairs or taken to the presser and or cleaners. I used to put everything into the pile for the cleaners. Sometimes a person would have received a very obviously brand new gift, never even tried on and return it- that went straight to be pressed and put on a new hanger.
Shoes were the worst. I simply refused to smell them as some people had had shannanigans with champagne and the shoes would be all sticky inside.....:) Jasmine hope we aren't scaring you off......
Lots of great luck!
Anjela
I will refuse to do anything like that. My stomach wont handle it. lol
Yuck. Just thinking about it gives me the chills.
Disease!!!!
I have been in stores that won't even let you take panties into the dressing room to try on for size---for good reason!!!!
Do they let you return panties??!!!??? aaarghhh...
Happy trails, D.
I must say, before I buy ANYTHING (force of habit old girl)now, it HAS to pass the Harrods nose test!! (hey, it was only two weeks) only my bestest friends know about my sniffing past.:)
That we're on your bestest friends list lol..

Victoria's secret: Formaldehyde?
http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/index.html
Imagine this commercial: A Brazilian bombshell clad in Victoria's Secret panties poses in front of a stark black background, focuses her bedroom eyes on the camera and purrs, "I have a secret. Your bra is covered in formaldehyde." That's Victoria's real secret, according to a new lawsuit that claims some bras are produced using the embalming chemical, which can cause rashes and permanent scarring...But there is something else I have to get off my chest, so to speak: I banished my Victoria's Secret collection to the waste bin a couple of months ago after a friend pushed me into a real bra-fitting with the promise: "This will change your life."
I discovered that for several years I'd been wearing two cup sizes too small, thanks in no small part to the two-sizes-too-small sensibility of my brand of choice since puberty. It feels damn good to be free from the pull of the store's neon-pink peep show signage, and to wear a bra built to support rather than display. My public service announcement: Double boobs might look hot in catalog spreads, but, in real life, your breasts aren't meant to be next-door neighbors with your chin -- they deserve their own ZIP Code, each of 'em.
Happy trails, D.
Thanks for the post.. Time to throw out mine too I guess. Looks like Nordstrom will be getting more business haha.
I get women every day since I started working who complain about back problems and pain. Give them a fitting and bam they realize they have been wearing the wrong size, which hasn't given them enough support. I feel really good helping them out :)
Thanks again! I'll pass this on.
Returns are what gets you the most... Especially when your income is based on commission. Sometimes customers return things that are 3 years old and we have to take it back. It still blows my mind, what do they expect the store to do with those products? But whatever, Nordtrom is corporate, BIG, and they've made it this far with that policy the only people it creates problems for are the sales associates.
But having your own business I can imagine would make it extremely difficult to have that policy. Glad the jewelry is working out for you! :)
I had no idea that employees had to give back if the customer returns. I was actually very surprised that Nordstroms is so generous. I once bought a very expensive jacket and after a few years it discolored (the yellow from the inside would start appearing on the outside). I walked into the store to ask what best I could do to get it back. They offered to take it back when all I wanted was some care instructions.
up until now only my best friend/s knew of my holiday job. I think when you mentioned Nordstroms it triggered that memory- Now it doesn't matter who knows. The truth shall set me free.
Seriously when I opened my first store, a tiny hole-in-the-wall children's boutique I had no idea people brought back worn, unwashed, torn, clothes and wanted full refunds and I fashioned my return policy on the Marks & Spencers and Nordstroms policy- but it almost bankrupt me. Wealthy mothers were the worst offenders-sending the nannies in with the worn clothes by then only fit for the rubbish bin. We soon knew the culprits though and the people who forced their children into clothes bursting them at the seams. I was so happy the day I decided to put all my energies into jewelry and get out of clothes business - Have to hand it to people who manage to sell clothes. And not attack the customers lol

Yahoo!!! congrats!
