Updated link for Happiness Conference in SF

Monika – August 16, 2008 – 8:47pm

I had no idea you were part of the conference.

I have been reading the bios this evening. Fascinating link.

Thanks Monika.

AnjelaM – August 17, 2008 – 7:57pm

Yes, it's a bit scary but we'll do fine, I am sure. :-)

Monika – August 17, 2008 – 8:13pm

How amazing is that! Your family must be so proud of you!!

I wish I could be there-

AnjelaM – August 19, 2008 – 6:04am

I have stopped sharing things like this with my family. It is too foreign for them.

On a more positive note, I hosted Dr. Emmett Miller who I have known for some time at Google today. He spoke on health, balance and stress. I can send a link of the youtube video in three days once it's up.

and the timing is perfect... I will be watching out for it! Oh I am sorry about the family ....

AnjelaM – August 20, 2008 – 3:52am

I used one of his meditation healing tapes, Healing Journey, for years. I used to sleep to it, but my tape player went bust. His tape has helped me stay sane (relatively) at times.

His voice and guided meditations are perfect for healing. Really.

I look forward to seeing the youtube link!!!

The other person whose taped meditation has helped me a lot is the Cherokee and Buddhist teacher, Dhyani Ywahoo, author of Voices of Our Ancestors. She has several tapes, and does one called "Our Hearts and the Heart of the Earth Are One", that is magic. Pure magic. And in person she is so powerful, so kind, so clear. Energetically clear.

Monika – September 22, 2008 – 8:04am

OK, I guess my plan of taking some time off, didn't work out...

I am now working with Robina Courtin as part of the Sherab Plaza Trust, The Liberation Prison Project and the Tse Chen Buddhist Center and Book Cafe.

I will be helping Robina and her team to make the Happiness and its Causes Conference in SF the most successful Happiness Conference in the World.

The conference is only 9 weeks away, so get your tickets now.

Would like to be there and to meet Urs Leonhardt Steiner-  For his music. I would also like to meet with Robert Sapolsky I am sure he has had tons of lovely females wanting to detangle his hair. I just want to know what he thinks of my latest MRI findings. Of possible causes of plaque in the basal ganglia. Then if he detangles my brain I will detangle his hair. Fair enough?

By the way-I really like what I have read about Robina- She seems so genuine and does some amazing work within the prison systems.

So Monika Good luck with putting it all together - it seeems like quite a task. I look forward to hearing how it goes.

AnjelaM – September 22, 2008 – 2:12pm

I am glad to be part of this although I am a bit exhausted from the agony of the past months. At least I won't be on this 80 hours per week...

Monika – September 22, 2008 – 4:51pm

And, busy lady, may I share what Tara just shared with me?

"I have a page from my daily calendar that says, '1/2 hour a day of meditation is essential unless you are busy, in which case one hour is required.'"

DR – September 22, 2008 – 6:11pm

If only I were there-(sigh) Is there anything I can do from long distance online help....?

AnjelaM – September 23, 2008 – 4:33pm

you should move here Angela. We need you!

Monika – September 23, 2008 – 4:36pm

if I were within reach of SF I would go. So many fascinating people to hear.

And i would love to hear the Dalai Lama's translator speak. So qualified, so experienced.

And Melissa Mathison. I would love to hear about the making of Kundun, which was such a very finel film (still one of my favorites).

Jinpa. We met him several times at Google. What I love best about these Tibetan monks is that they like Starbucks just as much as I do:-)

Monika – September 24, 2008 – 6:56am

One of my Tibetan Buddhist sangha friends has a crush on Jinpa.

Well, my sangha friend and I walked along lake Michigan on Monday, did our mantras. and then went to Hooligan's and had big hamburgers, French fries, and spli a nonalcoholic beer (which still gets you looped as they are not totally free of alcoholl) and said "Our Rinpoche would love this meal."

 And she would!

Those "geshes" are brilliant scholars to get that degree and Jinpa clearly has done so much! Go Jinpa!

I also "met" a Tibetan Rinpoche at a teaching in Chicago recently who gave massive bear hugs to each person who came up for blessing from him. A Rinpoche hug! I love it!

And at the retreat he told us stories about how his wife nags him for spending so  much time with his books and for not cleaning up the place. I just love it.

Monika the whole world seems to run on coffee, whether Starbucks (ick!) or other coffee (Go Peets!) even more than on petroleum-based fuels. I have to shake my head at  big companies that don't provide good coffee for free.

Happy trails, D.

To see you so rapidly involved in work you love.

Kathleen C – September 25, 2008 – 4:35am

Only problem: It's unpaid!

Monika – September 30, 2008 – 9:53pm

I'm hoping you'll connect with like-minded people and one (or more) will know about a job! In my experience, that kind of lead is more effective than other routes..

Kathleen C – October 1, 2008 – 3:33am

That sort of volunteer work led to my meeting my future mentor -- a brilliant man who was the reason for my going through the movement psych. track of a masters in holistic health at JFKU. I met JFKU's dean of the Grad School for the Study of Human Consciousness at the same time; and got an extremely high-level acknowledgment from Jenny O' herself -- that still means a lot to me. It also introduced me to my future best friend of many years (my mentor's wife).

No $$$$ involved.

But the experience and connections: priceless.

May you be similarly blessed. I am certain you will be.

Happy trails, D.

Yes

That is the way I see it too. I also don't think I want another job. I think I need to create my own thing.

Not sure yet. Don't even want to know yet. I am in a "creative void"  now:-)

Ah

That is called "gestation." Yes?

I was interviewed yesterday by the SF Chronicle. That was exciting. She will run it by me on Tue so I can make sure in my enthusiasm I didn't disclose anything confidential. Will let you know how that went...
