Daily Meditation For Natalia
In support of the brave Natalia Rae in her dance and journey with life.
This is a daily Community Encouragement & Compassion Meditation.
You're invited to set aside 10-15 minutes each day in meditation/dedication to benefit Natalia. When you can, log on to this site during one of two scheduled meditation times. By practicing online we have a sense of each other and we can support one another in our dedication to Natalia. You can do this by checking in at the Meditation House and clicking "Announce Yourself" .
This is a silent, sitting meditation. You can start with basic awareness practice - noticing what you are in touch with/aware of, noticing your breathing and body sensation. Then move to a tonglen-like practice where you bring your awareness to your heart. Tonglen is a receiving/accepting (on inhale) and sending out/letting go (on exhale) practice. On your inhale, breathe in difficulty/pain and on your exhale breathe out heart/courage/healing. You can begin the tonglen portion of the meditation by focusing on Natalia and stay with her or you can begin with Natalia, then open your awareness to any part of yourself that needs encouragement, heart, healing...eventually sending on your exhale heart/courage/healing to your community and ultimately, to everyone.
The scheduled daily meditation times are 7am and 8:15pm, Pacific Time.
Additionally, we have a big group sit once a week on Wednesdays at 8:15pm Pacific Time.
Thank you for coming and being here in dedication to our dear friend. Thank you for keeping our circle strong. If you like, before or after your silent meditation, you can leave any messages you want below - written, spoken, video or otherwise - for Natalia and for all of us.
This piece is a gem... It has been passed along person to person for over 20 years. From tape to tape and then to CD so there is some hissing in the background. I recommend passing it along, but knowing the right moment and person/group to pass it to is important... don't over play it... wait for it to call you to listen to it... As far as I know it has always been passed for free and without credits... Use it wisely. I post this here today because there is someone that needs to hear it. Enjoy...
it's been almost 3 months since nat passed on! i think of her daily and the inspiration that she was, and is, to so many. sending out continued love and prayers for peace. you will never be forgotten natalia!!
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Natalia Rae has passed away today.
I will always remember her as a light. As one who always supported the underdog. As a dear friend.
For those of you who knew her and loved her, there will be a ceremony for her at her home in Larkspur for the next couple of days. Chris Price has been organizing this and I am taking the liberty, with her permission, of reprinting her letter here:
From Chris Price:
after 2 silcone "miscarries" this saline implant "maggie" (the left) made it through 365 days and is looking great. "Saggie" got a heart and continuously sends her love to her much younger sister (almost 40 years apart). Amy Gotlief adorned her in celebration and snapped this lovely birthday shot.
With heartfelt appreciation and gratitude we send our wishes of peace and happiness. May the coming year bring you the very best of your heart’s deepest desires. May we all know the dance of spirit in every breath.

Karma Longfur adopted me in September, bringing along oodles and oodles of warmth and joy. He's my man. Saturday afternoon he started looking lethargic, and we took him to the ER on Sunday. He's had an urethral obstruction which has been cleared, but he is not responding so well to treatment. Please send him all the healing energy you've got to give. We will assess his situation this afternoon and make the call . . .
I just couldn't stay away... First morning of my workshop at Esalen and look who I found outside the lodge. I was so happy to see Natalia. After getting caught-up on the stuff of our lives I asked if I could take a picture of the two of us to post. Natalia, I so admire your courageous spirit. Keep on keepin' on...
I was driving on the 10 heading east on my way from Santa Monica College to teach my afternoon class when I heard on the radio the good news:
The FDA has approved the drug Tykerb for approval: FDA Approves New Breast Cancer Drug
