Greetings. Welcome to the group, "Esalen" -- for people who have lived, worked, and/or studied at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California.

For many of us who lived there, the time was rich, full, and extraordinary. For all people who have been touched by the spirit of the place, it is sometimes challenging to keep that spirit alive in the world outside the support of the container of Big Sur and Esalen.

This place is intended to become that supportive ground for people who have been moved by the spirit of the place, but who no longer, possibly, have immediate access to the special and sacred space of Esalen.

Everyone who has been moved by the spirit of Esalen, I believe, becomes, in their own way, an ambassador for a new way of thinking, feeling, and being in the world. May we carry on the torch and help bring truth, authenticity, love, and light for now and future generations.

The latest rumblings around the web from, about, or around Esalen.

Note: We are having monthly global Esalen weather reports in the Big House on the first Sunday of the month at 1:30PM, Pacific Time. All people who have lived, worked or studied at Esalen are welcome to join. Check the events calendar for a full listing of scheduled weather reports, open seats, or visiting teacher programs.

A view.

Esalen is a certain movement or vibration in a certain direction.

It has been an inspiration and a focus for good things to come to be.  A million possibilities per moment  for each of the 1000's who attend and participate.  I enjoyed watching the process.  Each area had a certain function.  And of course there were many things I probably did not see or discover.

Happy Frolicking Friday!

Cheerfulness Gives Harmony to the Soul and is a Perpetual Song without Words

mae – December 13, 2013 – 9:51am

I shall be as vague as I can.

I went to an event Sat. and it was so bad I would have walked out if I hadn't forked over $20.00

One always hopes a beautiful woman will adopt one.  So that alone can be motivation.

During the year...(a mighty one at that) one has experienced spectrums of joy and bliss.

You see I can't really say what is in my heart -- what I truly feel to anyone.  One person will react.

Another would probably make it worse and so forth.

(Where I live and who I know).  So I hold it all in.  Til now.  Some trust with IThou and Esalen.  (From my perspective at least).

At and after Pranafest I felt pretty good.  Don't think I wrote about it.  But it was intense.  I jump around alot when I blog.  Just want to get it out.

My cat is giving me a lot of pleasure (my new cat) and can be a holy terror often too.

Working within financial limits is the current reality.

Back in the day, and perhaps still, some visitors to Esalen had NO idea that their cars might go down the hill with ease, but go back up with difficulty.  In the early years it was possible to drive to the other side, but that road is long gone.

When a visitor would leave a car, it was common practice to wait a week or two. If it remained unclaimed it would mysteriously disappear.  I drove a 57 Ford convertible, along with John Horler and a few others, for weeks.  It was just left and we figured nobody wanted it. LOL.
